The Board of Directors develops policies that are visionary, aspirational, and fiduciary directions for the three organizations of Calgary Academy, Headwater Learning Foundation (HLF), and Headwater Learning Solutions (HLS) – otherwise known as the Headwater Learning Group (HLG).
#01 Belief Statements
This policy articulates the values of the Headwater Learning Group. The Board expects that these values shall live in all decision-making of the organizations.
#02 Role of Board
The purpose of this policy is to articulate the governance function of the Board of HLG. Good governance is recognized as a critical function of Student success and organizational goal achievement.
#03 Role of CEO
The purpose of this policy is to outline the role and responsibilities of the CEO.
#04 Welcoming Caring Respectful and Safe Learning Environments
The purpose of this policy is to outline the importance of ensuring a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment, whereby Students and Representatives at the School can learn and work in an environment free from Harassment.
#05 Code of Conduct
The purpose of this policy is to outline expectations of exemplary standards of business conduct to be adhered to and modelled by all staff, directors, and service providers.
The purpose of this policy is to provide Employees with guidance and understanding of what to do about conduct that is not of the highest ethical and moral standard and how Employees are protected from Reprisal.
#09 Privacy and Security of Information
Employees and Representatives of HLG shall be held to high standards of behaviour with respect to the collection, use, disclosure and safeguarding of Personal Information.
#10 Respectful Learning and Working Environments
The purpose of this policy is to outline the shared responsibility of all students, employees, directors, parents, contractors, volunteers and visitors for creating and maintaining a respectful learning and work environment.
#11 Digital Citizenship
The Board strives to ensure that Representatives and Students demonstrate exemplary digital conduct. This policy outlines those expectations.
#12 Occupational Health and Safety
The purpose of this policy is to outline the expectation of all students, employees, directors, and service providers to contribute to a safe and healthy workplace and learning environment.
#13 Philanthropic Support
This Policy presents the guidelines for the development of processes to support a culture of philanthropy in alignment to the core mission, vision, and values of our organizations and to ultimately contribute to the learning and overall success of our students.

The purpose of this Policy is to outline the processes that will be followed in the development and review of Board Policy.
