Volunteer with SCOCA

October 12, 2018 1 min read

Volunteer recruitment for the new School Council of Calgary Academy (SCOCA) kicked off at our first meeting Sept 17. With over 25 parent volunteers already signed up, we are off to a great start!

Facilitated by the SCOCA Volunteer Coordinators, the role of parent volunteers is to support teachers and admin staff at Calgary Academy with hands on support on a variety of special assignments such as special school events etc.

On Sept 27, twelve enthusiastic parent volunteers showed up in rain and snow to ensure the annual Terry Fox Run went on without a hitch, enabling teachers for the first time to join their students on the run. The energy and collaborative effort of everyone involved made this run a truly memorable one.

Parents interested in joining the Volunteer Community can email Volunteer Coordinators Shannyn de Kruyff or Carolyn Whitelaw at volunteers@calgaryacademy.com or sign up on the form located at the Calgary Academy front office.

To learn more, join us at the Volunteer Orientation planned for Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the multi purpose room. School Council Meeting to follow at 7pm.
