Unprecedented. That’s the word Calgary Academy Head of Athletics Nick Waterbury uses to describe the 2022 volleyball season. For a season filled with unique challenges, it ended as sweet as possible—three more banners hanging on the CA walls. 

The 14th Annual Dig Pink Volleyball Tournament in support of breast cancer research took place this weekend. This was our first fully in-person tournament since 2019, and the support of the CA community over Dig Pink Week was tremendous!

We are so excited to have our first full year of athletics underway – for the first time since the 2018-2019 school year!

Fall sports for Knights Athletics have come and gone, and it was a tremendous return to play for our student-athletes! We were able to have eight volleyball teams (totalling over 100 student-athletes), a cross country team of close to 40, a golf team of over 50, and even two Senior School boys playing football with the Springbank Phoenix. Overall, more than 40 per cent of our students in the Junior and Senior Schools were involved!

The last couple weeks of February saw the end of the basketball season for most teams. The Grade 7 girls finished a strong season of growth at Chinook Winds with their final game and a pizza celebration.

This weekend our school hosts the 10th annual Dig Pink Volleyball tournament, in support of the Alberta Cancer Society.
