Hello CA Parent Volunteers!

For those of you returning from last year, welcome back and for those of you new this year welcome on Board! We had a fantastic turn out on Monday night at our volunteer orientation and first SCOCA general meeting. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to join us. If you have not already attended a volunteer orientation, our next one will be offered Wednesday, October 16.  More details to follow.

We are thrilled to have such enthusiastic support from our parent volunteer community. As mentioned at our meeting we have the following fun opportunities coming up right away including:

Teacher Appreciation Lunch – Friday September 27

We will be feeding approximately 80 CA teachers and support staff and setting up two buffet style meals, one in Elementary staff lunch room and one in junior/senior high lunch room. Thank you in advance for your support! All food contributions (Nut Free) should be dropped off by 10:30 a.m. to either the elementary or senior high reception desk on Friday September 27. Please contact Shannyn de Kruyff at volunteers@calgaryacademy.com to register or if you would like to volunteer to help with set up and take down.

Terry Fox Run – Wednesday October 2 – 8:30-10 a.m.

Looking for approximately 10 parents to be onsite at stations cheering on students and teachers and ensuring safety. Note run will take place rain or shine outside on CA property and in adjoining woods so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Please email me directly if you are interested in volunteering for this opportunity.

If you have not already completed, please find attached a Calgary Academy Volunteer Application Form as well as a letter from Calgary Academy  to take with you to Calgary Police for your application for “Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector” police clearance check. This will ensure that you only pay the $15 fee rather than $55 fee.

If you have any questions about volunteering, please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime.

Sincerely,

Shannyn de Kruyff, Volunteers Coordinator
