Calgary Academy is thrilled to inform you of an exciting upcoming initiative aimed at enhancing students’ learning experience. Beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, the school will begin rolling out a 1:1 Device Program for students in Grades 7, eventually expanding to Grades 8 through 12. This program will give each student access to a school device to use as a core learning tool throughout their studies.

What is the 1:1 Device Program?

The 1:1 Device Program is designed to provide every student with a device tailored to their grade level to support and enrich their learning. For students in Grade 7 beginning in September 2025, each student will receive an iPad with a Logitech Rugged Combo Case and an Apple Pencil that will follow with them through Grade 8 and 9. For students entering Grade 10 beginning in September 2026, a school device will be provided. We are currently finalizing device options and will provide more details in the near future.

Key Benefits of the Program:

  1. Accessible and Equitable Learning for All: By using these devices, we aim to ensure every student has equal access to essential learning tools, such as reading and writing supports. These devices will also be integrated into each student’s Individual Program Plan (IPP) and support our universal design for learning approaches.
  2. Seamless Device Management: The devices will be centrally managed by the school, meaning apps and tools will be available to your child from day one. Teachers will also have the ability to monitor and guide how the devices are being used in class.
  3. Home Use and Ownership: Students will be able to take their devices home, and parents will have tools to monitor and manage device use. At the end of the three-year program cycle, your family will have the option to keep the device for personal use at no additional cost.

What About Costs?

To cover the costs of this program, the 2025–2026 supply fee for Grades 1–7 has been adjusted to include the iPad, accessories, and support. This spreads the device cost for parents over three years and allows the school to access bulk and educational discounts.

Fees and tuition are approved each November by our Board of Directors.

When Will This Happen?

The program will begin for Grade 7 students in the 2025–2026 school year, and Grade 10 students in the 2026–2027 school year. Each year, additional grades will be added:

  • In 2026–2027, it will include Grades 7, 8, and 10.
  • In 2027–2028, it will include Grades 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.
  • In 2028–2029, the program will be available for all students in Grades 7–12.

We are excited about the learning benefits ahead for students with a 1:1 program and look forward to working together to equip our students with the tools they need to succeed in a digital world.
