Getting Started as a Volunteer

Volunteers at Calgary Academy support student experiences and school programs in meaningful ways. To protect student safety and well-being, all volunteers must complete the required onboarding steps.

We value our volunteers as key advocates and contributors, and we are committed to ensuring their experience is rewarding, impactful, and appreciated.

These steps include the following:

  1. Current Parents must complete the Volunteer Application Form on the Enrolment Portal. For all other volunteers (alumni, past parents, community members, etc.), please email volunteers@calgaryacademy.com for instructions on getting started.
    1. After applying, you will receive a custom authorization letter via email (also available below) necessary for your police check.
  2. Calgary Academy will reach out and send you the mandatory training components to complete. All requirements must be completed and submitted before volunteer activities can begin. The requirements include:
      1. Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check: CA cannot accept a Police Information Check completed for another organization. If your current police check was completed for another organization, you will need to apply for a new one using Calgary Academy as the requesting organization. Note: this must be completed every three years.
      2. Commit to Kids (C2K): A free, 23-minute online course. Download your certificate when finished to share with our volunteering team. Note: this must be completed annually.

What Does Volunteering Look Like at CA?

Once all mandatory components are completed, volunteers will be granted access to the Sign-Up Genius account. Opportunities will be released regularly via email, and volunteers will opt in and sign up for opportunities that work for them.

Examples include:

  • Special events (Terry Fox, Dig Pink, etc.)
  • Exam support, scribing
  • Coaching Knights Athletics teams
  • Welcoming new families at admissions tours
  • Supporting Grade 12 students during Grad photos
