Thank You, Parent Volunteers!

It’s been a busy and productive last few months for our parent volunteers. Together we have supported Calgary Academy in a variety of ways including: the annual Terry Fox Run, Dig Pink event, Book Fair, Photo Day, Bulletin Boards, Drama Department Costume Closet, and scribing.

On November 13, parent volunteers went all out and executed the first official Teacher Appreciation Dinner, which entailed feeding over 80 teachers and admin staff a delicious hot Italian dinner donated and prepared by parent volunteers. This was so appreciated by the staff who had an extra-long day with Parent teacher interviews.  This was so well received that we are planning on doing another dinner in the new year and will keep you posted.

With over 40 parent volunteers already signed up, we are off to a great start! Facilitated by the SCOCA Volunteer Coordinators, the role of parent volunteers is to provide teachers and administration staff at Calgary Academy with hands on support on a variety of special assignments such as special school events, coaching assistance opportunities, bulletin board set up, teacher appreciation initiatives, scribing etc.

It is required that all parent volunteers complete a one-page volunteer application form and confidentiality form. These can be picked up and completed at the Elementary Front Desk. We also ask that all volunteers attend a Volunteer Orientation.

Next Volunteer Orientation is scheduled for Monday January 21, 2019 at 6:30-7:00pm.
