Headwater Learning Foundation (HLF) is the primary fundraising arm and is the organization that safeguards the assets of Calgary Academy. Housing all business services, HLF provides the resources necessary to unleash possibilities in learning and innovation as well as fundraising initiatives.

About the Role

We are looking for a Multimedia Specialist to champion the full creative lifecycle of photo and video projects, from collaborative planning, to filming, producing, and editing the final product. From sizzle reels to heartfelt testimonials, and learning showcases to product commercials, there is a diverse list of projects to keep the ideal candidate busy. An ideal candidate would be someone who works well under tight deadlines and holds themselves to high modern media production standards, trends, and styles. This is a one-year term contract, with the possibility for extension.

Highlights of Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Communications Team and internal partners, brainstorm content, develop storyboards, and support script development for a variety of video projects. This includes research, schedule coordination, script approvals, and maintaining productions schedules.
  • Execution of filming and photography, including art direction, lighting, and sound in indoor and outdoor environments. Filming will include people, products, and landscapes.
  • Edit photography/videography using modern editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Premiere).
  • Source and secure stock media and music tracks.
  • Create photo and video content for use across a wide variety of media, including social media, mobile platforms, and web.
  • Archive project media and manage video and photo libraries.
  • Maintain and organize photo and video equipment.
  • Coordinate logistics for filming including props, lighting, scheduling, and communication.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Art, Graphic Design, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • Talented and well-rounded videographer and photographer with experience adapting to different lighting and environmental conditions.
  • Excellent sense of pace and timing, knowledge of the best ways to grab viewers’ attention, and a sense for how to tell a powerful story in as little time as possible.
  • Competence and understanding of post-production processes.
  • Ability to complete post-production activities such as design titles, lower thirds and graphic elements, sound mix, colour correction, transitions, graphic overlays, as well as special effects an asset.
  • Expert level experience with Adobe Premiere, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Media Encoder.
  • Advanced level experience with animation in After Effects.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects is an asset.
  • Experience with Canon DSLR cameras, or access to a DLSR that is familiar.
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle is a requirement for this role.
  • Ability to provide a portfolio of past videography and photography projects to demonstrate your capabilities.
